The Davis Instruments Air-Dryr 500 is a compact, maintenance-free electric dehumidifier designed to continuously fight mold, mildew, moisture, and corrosion in enclosed spaces up to 500 cubic feet. Unlike traditional dehumidifiers that collect and drain water, the Air-Dryr works by drawing cool, damp air in through the bottom, heating it above the dew point so moisture stays suspended in the air rather than condensing on surfaces, then releasing it through the top vents — using natural convection with no fan required.
With a 70-watt heating element drawing just 0.6 amps, operating costs are comparable to a standard light bulb. The unit features no switches, fans, thermostats, or moving parts, resulting in completely silent operation with virtually nothing to break down or cause a spark — making it safe even for use in marine engine compartments.
