Engineered Marine Products 32-08304 Exhaust Water Shutter for MerCruiser V6 V8

The Engineered Marine Products 32-08304 is an exhaust water shutter (also known as an exhaust flapper) designed specifically for MerCruiser sterndrive engines. This critical component installs in the exhaust Y-pipe to protect your engine from water intrusion under various operating conditions.

Key Features:

• Designed for 1982-1986 MerCruiser V6 engines (185-205 HP) with 3-inch exhaust bellows
• Also fits V8 engines (200-260 HP) with 15-degree exhaust bellows
• Prevents water from backing up into the exhaust manifold when engine is not running or at low RPM
• Opens automatically when exhaust gases are vented, closes to block water backflow
• Helps prevent engine damage from following seas or sudden throttle changes
• Direct replacement for Mercury 99370A2 and 92802

Cross-Reference Numbers:

• Mercury: 99370A2, 92802
• Sierra: 18-2733
• GLM: 89160
• Mallory: 9-42801

Water shutters are essential safety components that help prevent catastrophic engine damage from water ingestion through the exhaust system. The flapper design allows normal exhaust flow while providing a barrier against water backwash when the engine is stopped or during rapid throttle reductions.
