About Brownell Boat Stands

Since 1954, Brownell Boat Stands has been the benchmark for safe, reliable boat support on land. Built and manufactured in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, Brownell is a proudly American-made brand with over seven decades of engineering know-how behind every product. Whether a vessel is being stored for the off-season, undergoing hull repairs, or awaiting launch day, boaters and marine professionals alike trust Brownell to keep it secure.

What sets Brownell apart is an unwavering focus on safety engineering. The company developed the Brownell Safety System — a comprehensive approach to boat support that includes not just the hardware, but also training and best practices to ensure that boatyards, marinas, and individual owners handle vessels correctly. This commitment to education as much as equipment has made Brownell a fixture in professional marine facilities across North America.

A Full Range of Marine Support Equipment

Brownell's product catalog is purpose-built to handle virtually any vessel type. Their boat stands for motorboats are engineered to distribute hull load evenly, with adjustable designs that accommodate the wide variety of hull shapes found across powerboat models. For the sailing community, Brownell offers dedicated sailboat stands — including stands designed specifically for maxi sailboats — that account for the unique keel geometry and weight distribution of monohull sailing vessels. Keel support blocks and accessories round out the sailboat storage lineup, making Brownell a one-stop solution for any marina.

Beyond static storage, Brownell also produces equipment for moving vessels on land. Their launching wheels and boat dollies make it far easier to transport smaller vessels from storage to the water's edge, reducing strain on both crew and hull. These products reflect the same durable, load-bearing construction philosophy found across the entire Brownell line.

Why Boaters Choose Brownell

Made in the USA: Every product is manufactured at their Mattapoisett, MA facility, ensuring consistent quality control.

Decades of proven performance: With roots going back to 1954, Brownell has refined its designs across generations of boating technology.

Safety-first engineering: The Brownell Safety System reflects a holistic approach — products and training working together.

Broad vessel compatibility: From small runabouts to maxi sailboats, there is a Brownell solution for nearly every hull type and size.

Professional trust: Brownell stands are standard equipment in boatyards and marinas throughout North America.

For anyone serious about protecting a significant marine investment during storage, transport, or maintenance, Brownell Boat Stands represents a heritage of craftsmanship that continues to set the standard in the industry.

The Brownell MB4BASE is the base-only component of Brownell's MB-4 motorboat stand, designed for powerboat storage at height ranges of 18 to 25 inches. Built for professionals and boat owners who need a reliable, heavy-duty solution for hauling out and storing powerboats on land, this base is engineered to be paired with a separately purchased Brownell MB-series top.
Designed to be placed under the flat chines of powerboats, the MB4BASE features a vertical base construction made from heavy-duty 12-gauge steel tubing with full-size 1-7/16" Acme threads for smooth, precise height adjustment — even under load. Angled iron tread plates protect pavement surfaces, while a full-length center pipe on the base provides stability and protects the threads during use and storage.
Key Features:
Brownell recommends using a minimum of four stands per vessel, spaced one stand every 8 to 10 feet along each side of the hull, always used in conjunction with keel stands or wooden blocks under the keel. The MB4BASE is the smallest stand in the MB series and is ideal for compact powerboats requiring lower support heights. Compatible tops for this base are available separately.
