Sika

About Sika: Over a Century of Specialty Chemistry

Sika is a Swiss multinational specialty chemicals company with roots stretching back to 1910, when founder Kaspar Winkler introduced his first waterproofing agent in Zurich. From those early days of tunnel waterproofing for the Swiss Federal Railways, Sika has grown into a globally recognized leader in bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing, and protection — with subsidiaries in more than 102 countries and over 400 manufacturing facilities worldwide. That kind of scale reflects a track record built on consistent innovation and rigorous chemistry.

While Sika's heritage is in construction, the brand expanded meaningfully into the automotive and industrial sectors beginning in the 1980s, when the now-iconic Sikaflex® adhesive family opened the door to vehicle assembly, auto glass replacement, and aftermarket repair applications. Today, Sika is widely regarded as a market leader in automotive glass replacement (AGR) direct glazing, and its product systems are engineered to meet or exceed stringent standards like FMVSS 212 crash test requirements — a testament to how seriously Sika takes safety-critical bonding performance.

Sika Automotive Products: What They Do and Why It Matters

In the automotive and repair-shop world, surface preparation and bonding integrity aren't optional — they're the foundation of every repair that stays repaired. Sika's lineup addresses each stage of that process with purpose-built chemistry. Whether you're prepping a substrate before laying down a sealant, bonding a replacement windshield, or sealing a marine or vehicle joint against the elements, there's a Sika product engineered specifically for the task.

Sika's Primers are formulated to maximize adhesion between substrates and sealant systems. The Sikaflex® primer family, for example, is specifically designed to improve the bond of Sikaflex urethane sealants to a wide range of porous and non-porous substrates — from concrete and masonry to metal and specialty coatings. Fast-drying, low-VOC formulations mean less downtime and better compatibility with modern workshop environments.

For applications where bond reliability to challenging surfaces is non-negotiable, Sika's Adhesion Promoters deliver targeted surface pretreatment chemistry. Products like Sika® Aktivator PRO are engineered specifically for automotive glass replacement, offering a wide temperature application range and a simplified single-wipe process that reduces installation time and errors.

Sika's Caulks & Sealants span a wide range of applications — from automotive body shop sealing to general construction joint sealing. Sikaflex® polyurethane sealants are trusted for their weathering resistance, flexibility, and durability in both interior and exterior environments, making them a reliable choice for body shop professionals and DIY enthusiasts alike.

When body panels or structural components sustain damage, Sika's Fiberglass & Aluminum Repair Kits provide professional-grade restoration solutions designed to bond and restore damaged surfaces with lasting results. And for windshield and auto glass work, Sika's Glass Primers — such as the Sika® Primer-207 — are formulated to improve adhesion across a broad range of substrates including float glass, ceramic-coated glass, plastics, and painted surfaces, ensuring every glass replacement meets the highest safety standards.

Why Choose Sika?

Over 110 years of specialty chemistry expertise across construction, industrial, and automotive markets

Global manufacturing presence with 400+ facilities ensuring consistent product quality

OEM-approved formulations used by vehicle manufacturers and professional installers worldwide

Safety-first engineering — AGR adhesive systems designed to meet or exceed FMVSS 212 crash test standards

Broad product ecosystem — primers, adhesion promoters, sealants, and repair kits that work together as an integrated system

Product Details

Sikaflex-295 UV is a fast-curing, one-component polyurethane adhesive and sealant engineered for demanding marine glazing and exterior sealing applications. It is specifically formulated for bonding organic glass materials — including polycarbonate (PC) and acrylic (PMMA) windows, hatches, and portholes — while also performing as a durable, color-stable sealant for general marine use.

This moisture-curing formula offers a non-sag consistency, making it well-suited for vertical and overhead applications. Its outstanding UV resistance prevents yellowing, chalking, cracking, and streaking, even in harsh outdoor marine environments. The 10.3 fl. oz. cartridge is compatible with a standard caulking gun for precise, controlled application.

Key Features:

 • One-component, moisture-curing polyurethane — no mixing required
 • Specifically designed for bonding PC and PMMA (acrylic/polycarbonate) organic glass windows and hatches
 • Excellent UV resistance — non-chalking, non-yellowing, and color stable
 • Suitable for sealing joints between glass, ceramics, metals, plastics, fiberglass, and painted surfaces
 • Bonds well to itself and other cured polyurethanes
 • Non-sag formula for vertical and overhead application
 • Paintable after full cure
 • Meets IMO requirements; Wheelmark approved for OEM marine applications

Technical Specifications:

 • Chemical Base: 1-Component Polyurethane
 • Cure Mechanism: Moisture
 • Tensile Strength: 290 psi
 • Elongation at Break: 500%
 • Tear/Shear Strength: 30 pli
 • Shore A Hardness: 35
 • Skin Time: ~60 minutes
 • Service Temperature Range: -58°F to +194°F
 • Application Temperature: 50°F to 95°F
 • Shelf Life: 12 months
 • Size: 10.3 fl. oz. (300 mL) Cartridge
 • Color: White

For best adhesion results, use in conjunction with Sika Aktivator 205 and Sika Primer 209 D when bonding organic glass. Note: For mineral glass windows, use Sikaflex-296 for structural bonding; Sikaflex-295 UV is approved for edge joint sealing only on mineral glass.

Autoplicity was the only place I could find the tire I needed. The purchase was easy, shipping was fast. From the time I ordered the tire to the time it was installed on my vehicle was less than one week. I would definitely reccommend Autoplicity.com.

Autoplicity cancelled one item that was to be shipped from supplier. Credit amount was incorrect which I needed to contact customer service to correct

Autoplicity had a real good price on the product I needed and the shipping time was quick! Thanks Autoplicity!
