Product Details

The Shakespeare DORSAL™ VHF Antenna (5912DSVHFW) is a compact, low-profile marine VHF antenna engineered for reliable short-range communication in demanding on-water environments. Standing just 4 inches tall, this white fin-shaped antenna is ideal for smaller vessels where clearance, snag resistance, and a clean profile matter.

Designed to operate on the standard marine VHF frequency band of 156–162 MHz, the DORSAL™ delivers effective communication at up to 10 miles range at 25W and up to 4 miles at 1W, making it perfectly suited for coastal cruising, kayaks, center consoles, and powerboats where a low-profile installation is preferred over a tall whip antenna.

Key Features:

  • Low-profile fin-shaped design — only 4" (100mm) tall
  • Snag-resistant aerodynamic profile reduces interference with rigging and gear
  • High-impact, fully sealed ABS body withstands harsh marine environments
  • Fully water-sealed with rubber gasket included for weatherproof installation
  • Frequency band: 156–162 MHz (standard marine VHF)
  • Maximum input power: 25W
  • Gain: 0 dBd
  • DC ground: Open (isolated)
  • Compact footprint: 4" H x 2.3" W x 2.5" D (100 x 60 x 65 mm)
  • M14 x 1 threaded base mount
  • Includes 26 ft (8m) RG58 coaxial cable with PL-259 plug pre-installed
  • White finish

The included 26-foot RG58 coaxial cable with PL-259 connector makes installation straightforward with most standard marine VHF radios. The M14 x 1 threaded base provides a secure, low-profile mount on decks, hardtops, or transoms without protruding hardware.

Very quick delivery and product install went very easily. So far works as described Need to see how long it lasts but everything is fine

Excellent

Easy to find product

The phone associate I spoke with was courteous and very efficient. I obtained the info I requested quickly. He confirmed that the items were in stock and ready to go and could be shipped the next day. He suggested that I go ahead and use the on-line order system as it would be faster as his system was slower than normal at that moment. I did this and was through the process quickly. The whole process inspired confidence and satisfaction. Thank you very much.
