Southwire 40100-001 Automatic Transfer Switch 50 Amp Hardwire 120/240V RV

The Southwire 40100-001 is a basic 50-amp automatic transfer switch (ATS) designed for RV and marine power systems, enabling seamless, hardwired switching between shore power and generator power. When the generator is started, the switch automatically transfers the load after a 30-second delay, giving the generator time to stabilize before assuming power duties. When the generator is shut down, the unit reverts to shore power after a brief 3–4 second delay.

When both shore power and generator power are simultaneously available, the switch gives priority to generator power after the 30-second delay, ensuring predictable and reliable behavior in any power scenario.

Key Features:

• Automatic operation — transfers to generator power when energized, with no manual intervention required
• Mechanical interlocking contactors — dual contactor arrangement ensures safe, complete separation between power sources
• Time delay at power up — 30-second delay switching to generator; 3–4 second delay reverting to shore power
• Generator dominant — generator takes priority when both power sources are present
• Hardwire installation — screw terminal connections for a permanent, professional install
• 120/240V, 50A, 60Hz — rated for full 50-amp RV and marine electrical systems
• UL/CUL Listed — UL1008 full transfer switch rating for compliance and safety
• Does NOT provide surge protection — transfer only; a separate surge protector is recommended for full power protection
• Limited 1-year manufacturer warranty
