The BEP Marine 701-MDVS-D is a 275A continuous-rated motorized Voltage Sensitive Switch (VSS) designed to automatically manage dual battery bank charging and emergency parallel connection in marine applications. This intelligent switch monitors both battery banks and combines or isolates them based on charging source presence, ensuring optimal battery management without manual intervention.

Automatic Voltage Sensing Operation:

The VSS engages when either the start or house battery reaches 13.7 volts, combining both banks for efficient charging from an alternator or shore power charger. With integrated engine run sensing, the switch intelligently manages battery isolation: if combined voltage drops below 13.0 volts with the engine off, contacts open after 5 seconds. When the engine is running and voltage drops below 12.2 volts, the switch remains engaged for 5 minutes before opening, preventing premature disconnection during high electrical loads.

Remote Emergency Parallel Function:

The 701-MDVS-D can be activated via a momentary dash-mounted button to parallel both battery banks for emergency starting. The emergency parallel mode runs for a preset 10 minutes, after which the switch automatically determines whether to stay engaged based on voltage levels or return to normal VSS operation.
