About Greenfield Products

Greenfield Products has been a cornerstone of American marine manufacturing since its founding in 1959 by J. Paul Gessner in Greenfield, Ohio. What began as a small operation producing outdoor cookware and aluminum-painted anchors evolved rapidly into one of the most respected names in recreational boating. The pivotal moment came in 1962, when Greenfield introduced the first PVC-coated anchor — a genuine industry first that transformed how boaters thought about holding power, vessel protection, and long-term durability. That spirit of innovation has carried the company forward for more than six decades.

Today, Greenfield Products operates as a fourth-generation, family-owned business, and that heritage shows in both product quality and company culture. Their anchor catalog spans a wide range of styles and applications, from the classic Navy anchor — a proven design relied upon for over a century — to mushroom anchors ideal for kayaks, canoes, and personal watercraft, to the aggressive Sandshark design engineered to dig deep and hold vessels up to 40 feet in length. The AYS (American Yachting Series) fluke anchor rounds out the lineup with a time-tested all-purpose design dating back to Richard Danforth's original 1939 concept. Whether you're securing a jon boat in a calm river or keeping a larger vessel in place offshore, Greenfield's marine anchors offer a solution matched to your specific needs.

Greenfield's commitment to innovation extends beyond anchors. The company holds the distinction of being the originators of stretch cordage for boating. Their Dock Buddy bungee dock line, introduced in the 1990s, quickly became a worldwide standard in the docking products category. They pushed further in 2006 with the introduction of Stretch N Slide, the world's first bungee loop-line for docking or rafting, which eliminates the need to choose a specific size by adapting to fit perfectly every time. The Anchor Buddy — a poly-covered bungee cord that absorbs shock from the anchor line — makes offshore anchoring dramatically easier and more comfortable for any boater.

For anglers, Greenfield also produces eco-conscious downrigger weights made from recycled lead, cast directly during the recycling process to minimize environmental impact, with no secondary smelting or emissions involved in production. PVC-coated anchor chains, available in various styles and colors, complete a comprehensive anchoring system by providing the critical weight between anchor and rode needed to maintain the proper angle for a solid set. Explore their full selection of anchor chains and accessories to build out a complete, dependable anchoring setup.

From the freshwater lakes of Ohio to ocean coastlines across the country, Greenfield Products continues to hold America's boats with the same craftsmanship and ingenuity that defined the brand from day one.

Product Details

The Greenfield Products GPI-13 is a 12-pound fluke anchor from the American Yachting Series, featuring a protective white PVC coating designed to prevent scratches and damage to your boat's finish. Based on Richard Danforth's original 1939 design, this classic all-purpose fluke anchor delivers reliable holding power for boats up to 33 feet in length.

Key Features:

 • 12 lb weight suitable for boats up to 33 feet
 • White vinyl coating protects boat finishes from scratches and abrasions
 • Proven general-purpose anchor design with superior tensile strength
 • Specially formulated coating with undercoat for added adhesion
 • Recommended for sand and mud bottom conditions
 • Requires 1/4 inch anchor chain (sold separately)

Installation Guidelines:

Anchor chain should always be used with steel fluke anchors to provide the necessary weight for maintaining proper rode angle during setting. A good starting point is a length of chain equal to your boat's length. Fluke anchors require a minimum scope of 5:1 (rope length to water depth) for proper setting, with 7:1 scope recommended for optimal holding power. Best performance in winds below 30 knots on sand and mud bottoms.
