Danforth Anchors

A Legacy of Holding Power: The Danforth Story

Few names carry as much weight on the water as Danforth Anchors. The brand traces its roots to American inventor Richard Danforth, who in 1939 engineered a revolutionary new approach to anchoring — one that prioritized holding power through design rather than sheer mass. Danforth's fluke-style anchors were first put to the test during World War II, where they proved their worth aboard landing craft that demanded a lightweight, dependable anchor capable of performing under extreme conditions. That wartime philosophy — every ounce must count — has guided the brand's engineering principles ever since.

What Makes Danforth Anchors Different

The signature feature of any Danforth anchor is its pair of large, flat triangular flukes mounted on a crown-mounted stock. When the anchor hits bottom, these flukes pivot and drive themselves deep into sand, mud, or clay, locking the vessel in place with extraordinary tenacity relative to the anchor's weight. This hinged-fluke design also allows the anchor to lay flat for compact, hassle-free stowage aboard any size vessel — a practical advantage that recreational boaters and commercial mariners alike appreciate.

Danforth offers two primary lines to cover a wide range of boating needs. The Standard series features a high-strength steel shank and wide galvanized steel flukes, delivering the classic performance that generations of mariners have relied upon. For those who demand even more from their ground tackle, the Hi-Tensile series steps up the engineering — with flukes fabricated for additional strength, beveled edges for faster and deeper bottom penetration, and shanks forged from heat-treated 4130 steel. Both lines are finished with a hot-dip galvanized coating to resist the relentless corrosive forces of the marine environment.

Trusted Across Every Segment of Boating

From weekend fishing boats and pontoons to coastal cruisers and naval vessels, Danforth anchors have earned their reputation across virtually every segment of recreational and commercial boating. Their favorable holding-power-to-weight ratio makes them especially practical for smaller craft where weight and storage space are at a premium, while their robust construction means they hold their own in demanding offshore and dredging applications as well.

Backing this confidence is a lifetime warranty against manufacturing and material defects — a statement of quality that few anchor brands can match. When you drop a Danforth, you know it will hold.

Shop Danforth Anchors

Whether you need a dependable primary hook or a lightweight secondary anchor for your stern, explore the full lineup of Danforth marine anchors to find the right model for your vessel and bottom conditions.

The Danforth Anchors 94014 is a 16-pound lightweight galvanized anchor designed for superior holding power in sand, mud, and soft bottom conditions. This classic fluke-style anchor has been trusted by boaters for decades, offering exceptional performance relative to its weight.

Key Features:

 • 16-pound weight provides reliable holding power for boats up to approximately 27 feet
 • Hot-dip galvanized steel construction resists corrosion in saltwater and freshwater environments
 • Twin-fluke design digs deep into soft bottoms for maximum holding strength
 • Compact folding design allows for easy storage on deck or in anchor lockers
 • Long shank provides optimal angle for penetration and holding
 • High strength-to-weight ratio makes it ideal for recreational boating, fishing, and emergency backup

Danforth-style anchors excel in sandy and muddy conditions where the flukes can penetrate deeply and provide exceptional grip. The 94014 model is ideal for small to medium-sized boats, pontoons, and personal watercraft where space and weight are considerations. The galvanized finish ensures long-lasting durability in marine environments.

Very quick service - great products!! Highly recommend!

THM had the correct bearing at a good price and delivery was prompt.

Simple and easy.

Everything was fine, received order promptly, Ordered a 3' bracket but needed 2' bracket, my bad. I will try to make a 1' spacer and make it work. Thanks for your get service, if I ever need anything else I would check your site again

I found the engine mounts I needed but THM did not carry the transmission mounts I needed from the same manufacturer. I had to go directly to the manufacturer website (Innovative) to find them. THM had the best price on the engine mounts though.

Was very happy to find a website that had this plow wear bar. The bar arrived perfectly in just two days. The bar fits perfectly. It is two sided for longer use. Highly recommend TH Motorsports and will definitely use them again.

Good

THmotorsports had what I needed at a good price and they shipped right away.
