Product Details

The Sierra 18-9806E Extreme Shift Cable Tool is a specialized marine service tool designed to install and remove shift cables on MerCruiser stern drive units. This essential tool provides access to the recessed hex fitting on shift cables, making installation and removal significantly easier than using standard sockets.

Compatible Drive Units:

  • MerCruiser MC-I stern drives
  • MerCruiser R and MR stern drives
  • MerCruiser Alpha One stern drives
  • MerCruiser Alpha One Gen II stern drives

Key Features:

  • 9/16-inch deep socket design with hex head for wrench access
  • Split construction along the entire length for easy cable installation
  • Allows shift cable core to remain installed during cable routing
  • Engineered to meet or exceed OEM specifications
  • Lightweight construction at just 0.21 lbs

Compatible Cables:

  • Sierra 18-2190 shift cable
  • Sierra 18-2190E shift cable
  • MerCruiser 19543A10, 19543A4, and 865436A02

This tool replaces MerCruiser part number 91-12037 and GLM 90110. The slotted design is particularly valuable when routing the shift cable assembly through the transom and around the exhaust, engine, and steering components, as it accommodates the shift cable sheath with the cable core and shift arm already installed.

I didn't like how the shipping estimate was half of actual cost.

Ordering and shipping were quick and easy. I would like to access some videos on installing my purchases.
