Manufacturer

Ancor

For over 40 years, Ancor has been the industry leader for high-quality tinned copper Marine Grade® wire and cable. Founded with a singular mission to deliver electrical products capable of withstanding the harshest marine environments, Ancor has become the gold standard for boat builders, marine electricians, and automotive enthusiasts who demand uncompromising reliability in challenging conditions.

Engineering Excellence for Extreme Environments

What sets Ancor apart is their commitment to exceeding industry standards. Ancor Marine Grade™ wire and cable is manufactured from tinned copper stranding for maximum protection against corrosion and electrolysis. This electroplating process coats every individual strand with tin, preventing the corrosion that can compromise standard bare copper wire. The result is electrical wire that delivers consistent performance even when exposed to saltwater, battery acid, oil, and UV radiation.

The company's primary wire offerings showcase this engineering philosophy. Ultra flexible (Type 3) stranding resists fatigue due to vibration and flexing. Exceeds all UL 1426, US Coast Guard Charter boat (CFR Title 46) and ABYC standards. Available in multiple gauges and a full spectrum of colors to match proper wiring protocols, these products are essential for anyone building or maintaining electrical systems in demanding applications.

Complete Wire Management Solutions

Our extensive product line encompasses everything you need for your next wiring project, including wire, cable, terminals, connectors, wire management products, and hand tools. Beyond wire itself, Ancor has developed a comprehensive ecosystem of complementary products. Their wire ties feature UV-resistant construction that won't become brittle in harsh sunlight, while their terminals utilize double-crimp designs for maximum strain relief and connection integrity.

For vehicle protection needs, Ancor even offers car covers engineered to guard against the elements. Meanwhile, specialized components like disc brake rotors and automatic transmission control solenoids demonstrate the brand's expanding reach into broader automotive applications.

Trusted by Professionals, Accessible to All

All of our products are built for the harsh marine environment and conform to industry standards. Whether you're rewiring an entire vessel, making repairs to an RV electrical system, or upgrading automotive wiring harnesses, Ancor provides the durability and performance needed for installations that last. The brand's reputation rests on delivering consistent quality across every product category, ensuring that whether you're purchasing 100 feet of wire or a single connector, you're getting the same commitment to excellence that has defined Ancor for more than four decades.

Product Details

Step-down butt connectors are used to terminate wires safely or to connect wires of different gauges to each other by inserting each wire into the connector and then crimping it. Ancor's Marine Grade terminals differ from automotive terminals by being designed for the harsh marine environment. This connector accepts 8 AWG wire on one end and 12-10 AWG wire on the other, making it ideal for stepping down wire sizes in marine electrical applications.

Key Features:

 • Vinyl insulators are easy to crimp and won't split, eliminating the need for additional tape or replacement
 • Seamless barrels are designed to tightly grip the wire with the least effort
 • Tinned copper conductor offers the least electrical resistance for maximum current flow, plus it resists corrosion from salt and moisture
 • UL 486C listed for quality assurance
 • Red vinyl insulation for easy wire gauge identification
 • Comes in a convenient 3-pack

Ancor designs products to the highest standards that meet UL, ABYC, NMMA and USCG standards, ensuring reliable performance in demanding marine environments. Ideal for boats, RVs, and other applications where connecting different wire gauges is required.
