Barton Marine: Nearly 80 Years of Marine Engineering Excellence

For nearly 80 years Barton Marine has been making world-class sailing blocks, track and cars from our factory in Southeast England. Starting in 1948 in Whitstable, England, famed for its shipwright heritage, our founder Ron Barton, was one of the first to use a fabric based laminated resin called Tufnol and stainless steel to manufacture leisure marine yachting blocks which were much lighter and stronger than previously constructed. This innovative spirit continues to define the brand today, with Barton Marine recognized globally for engineering solutions that deliver reliability in demanding marine environments.

Innovation Through Advanced Materials

What sets Barton Marine apart is their commitment to material innovation and engineering precision. Throughout their history, they've pioneered the use of advanced composite materials in marine hardware manufacturing. Ron realised that Tufnol was too labour intensive and costly so set about re-designing the entire Barton product range to become the first marine company to use a new plastic injection moulding process using revolutionary fibre glass reinforced plastic materials. This forward-thinking approach to manufacturing has allowed Barton to create products that are simultaneously lighter, stronger, and more corrosion-resistant than traditional metal alternatives.

Comprehensive Marine Hardware Solutions

Barton Marine's product range spans the full spectrum of marine hardware needs. From their renowned composite winches that offer friction-free operation to their precision-engineered traveller systems, every product reflects decades of refinement. The company manufactures an extensive line of sailing blocks with ball bearing sheave construction, rope clutches, deck organizers, and T-track accessories. Barton, to this day, still continues to manufacture the widest range of T Track accessories in the world. Their electrical components, including winch wiring harnesses, are designed to meet the rigorous demands of marine electrical systems where reliability is non-negotiable.

Quality That Professionals Trust

As a marine company of many firsts and moving into new and dynamic manufacturing processes Barton Marine has become a global leader in high-quality, well-engineered, modern sailing hardware and accessories. Professional sailors and boating enthusiasts alike have come to trust Barton equipment for its durability and consistent performance. Barton today supplies 35 distributors in 32 countries. This global reach reflects the brand's reputation for manufacturing products that withstand harsh saltwater environments, UV exposure, and the mechanical stresses of marine applications.

Engineering for Real-World Reliability

Every Barton Marine product undergoes rigorous testing before reaching the market. All tooling work is undertaken in house and extensive testing carried out before release into the market. This attention to detail ensures that whether you're outfitting a racing yacht or maintaining a cruising vessel, Barton hardware delivers the performance and longevity that marine applications demand. Their composite winches, for example, feature virtually self-lubricating mechanisms and corrosion-resistant materials that require minimal maintenance even after years of saltwater exposure. For boat owners working with electrical systems, properly engineered winch wiring harnesses provide the weather-sealed connections and marine-grade wire specifications necessary for safe, reliable operation in wet environments.

The Barton Marine 44011 Boomstrut is a maintenance-free boom support system designed for sailboats up to 6 meters (20 feet) in length with a maximum boom tip weight of 6.3 kg (14 lbs). This innovative rigging accessory works alongside your existing kicker or rope vang to create upward lift on the boom, maintaining optimal sail shape even in light wind conditions.
Key Features:
Easy Installation:
The Boomstrut prevents the boom from falling onto the boat when the sail is lowered or topping lift is released. Pulling the boom down with a conventional kicker causes the Boomstrut to flex; releasing straightens the rods to lift and support the boom. Constructed from high-grade stainless steel and anodized aluminum with carefully designed edges to minimize parts and ensure trouble-free use. Spare parts available.
