The SeaStar Solutions PA1200-3 is an electronically controlled hydraulic gear pump that integrates directly into your existing marine hydraulic steering system between the helm and the steering cylinder. Recommended for vessels running 200 HP and above, this power assist unit dramatically reduces steering effort, delivering automotive-style comfort even in heavy or high-torque applications.

The PA1200-3 is the latest generation of the popular SeaStar Power Assist series, featuring upgraded electronics and new ORB (O-Ring Boss) fittings for improved sealing and reliability. It directly replaces the PA1200-2 and original PA1200 models.

How It Works:

The system operates using two circuits: a hand-operated manual circuit (the control element) and an electronically controlled hydraulic pump circuit (the working element). The helm controls both speed and direction of steering, while the power assist amplifies the steering force. The gear pump speed is proportional to helm movement — faster wheel turning increases pump output. When idle, the unit draws only minimal standby power.
