Seahawk Paints Aluminum Boat Paint
Seahawk Paints Aluma Hawk™: Purpose-Built Aluminum Boat Paint
When it comes to protecting aluminum hulls, few products are as purpose-engineered as the Seahawk Paints Aluma Hawk™ AH7000 Series. Designed from the ground up for aluminum substrates, this line stands apart from generic marine coatings by addressing the unique challenges aluminum presents — galvanic sensitivity, adhesion difficulty, and corrosion in both fresh and saltwater environments.
The Aluma Hawk Difference: One-Step Protection
What makes Aluma Hawk truly distinct in the aluminum boat paint category is its dual-purpose phenolic resin formulation. Aluma Hawk's unique dual-purpose phenolic resin allows it to be used as a primer directly on metal with or without a topcoat. That means boat owners applying Aluma Hawk to raw aluminum don't have to purchase or apply a separate primer — the coating bonds directly and handles both roles in a single product. This one-step approach saves significant time and effort during application.
Aluma Hawk is a quick-dry, high-solids, corrosion-inhibiting coating designed for use on aluminum with no need of additional primers, and it is chromate-free, suitable for use above or below the waterline. The chromate-free formula is an important detail for environmentally conscious boaters and those working in regulated waterways, as chromate-based coatings are increasingly restricted in many areas.
Fresh & Saltwater Versatility
The Aluma Hawk AH7000 Series is a quick-dry, high-solids, corrosion-inhibiting coating designed for use on aluminum with no need of additional primers, and it may be used above or below the waterline in fresh or saltwater environments. Whether you're running a jon boat through inland marshes or keeping a pontoon in a saltwater marina slip, Aluma Hawk is formulated to hold up in both conditions. It is also lift-resistant to lacquer, enamel, and acrylic topcoats, and features excellent water and oil hydrocarbon resistance.
Ideal Vessel Types & Color Options
Aluma Hawk is ideal for pontoon boats, jon boats, house boats, and any aluminum surface. Seahawk Paints has expanded the Aluma Hawk line to give aluminum boat owners a full palette to choose from. The line now includes Jon Boat Blue and Jon Boat Tan alongside the existing Jon Boat Green, Aluminum Gray, and Black, giving aluminum boat owners a complete color palette to choose from when coating hulls and above-the-waterline aluminum surfaces. White is also available, rounding out the lineup for a fully coordinated look.
Application Notes
Aluma Hawk is applied by brush or roller in two coats following proper dry time requirements, with no sanding necessary between coats if less than 48 hours pass between applications. It is worth noting that Aluma Hawk is chromate-free and may be used above or below the waterline, but contains no antifouling characteristics — boaters in heavy-growth areas who need biocidal protection should layer it with an appropriate antifouling topcoat. Available in quart and gallon sizes, Aluma Hawk offers practical flexibility for touch-ups or full hull recoats alike.
