Actisense: Marine Network Technology You Can Trust

When it comes to building a reliable onboard marine electronics network, few names carry the authority of Actisense. Headquartered in the United Kingdom and distributed in over 45 countries, Actisense has spent decades earning its reputation as a go-to specialist in NMEA network technology. Their focus is singular and deliberate: designing intelligent sensors, smart interfaces, and data communication solutions that keep vessels safer, better-connected, and easier to manage on the water.

At the heart of what Actisense does is an unwavering commitment to the NMEA standards — both NMEA 0183 and the newer NMEA 2000 protocol. Whether you're a weekend sailor looking to integrate a chartplotter with depth sensors, or a commercial vessel operator managing a complex multi-device network, Actisense has purpose-built hardware and software to meet the challenge. Their product ecosystem spans data gateways, protocol converters, Wi-Fi bridges, multiplexers, network diagnostic tools, and the physical infrastructure that ties it all together.

The A2K Cable & Connector Range

A reliable NMEA 2000 network is only as strong as its physical backbone. Actisense's award-winning NMEA 2000 Interface Cables and Connectors — the A2K range — are engineered with specialist interconnect knowledge that goes beyond simply meeting the NMEA 2000 specification. From T-pieces and terminators to bulk cable reels and field-fit connectors, every component in the A2K lineup is designed to work seamlessly together, ensuring signal integrity across the entire network. These cables and connectors are a staple for professional marine installers who need dependable, high-quality infrastructure components they can trust voyage after voyage.

Lowrance Network Connectivity

For boaters running Lowrance-based electronics systems, Actisense provides compatible Lowrance Network Cables, Connectors & Adaptors that bridge Actisense's NMEA 2000 hardware with Lowrance chartplotters and multifunction displays. Because NMEA 2000 is an open standard, Actisense connectivity solutions integrate naturally into Lowrance networks, making it straightforward to add sensors, gateways, or expand an existing setup without starting from scratch.

Diagnostic Interface Cables

Understanding what's happening on your NMEA 2000 network is critical for troubleshooting and optimization. Actisense offers Diagnostic Scan Tool Cables that allow technicians and advanced boaters to connect a PC directly to the NMEA 2000 bus, read live network data, identify device conflicts, and configure connected instruments. Products like the NGX-1-USB gateway serve double duty as both a PC interface and a protocol conversion tool, making them an indispensable part of any serious marine installer's toolkit.

Why Actisense?

NMEA Expertise: Deep, application-level knowledge of both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 standards informs every product design.

Global Reach: Sold and supported through a certified dealer network spanning more than 45 countries.

Build Quality: Robust, intelligent designs engineered to exceed — not just meet — NMEA 2000 specifications.

Versatility: Solutions for leisure sailors, commercial operators, and even precision agriculture applications.

Proven Reliability: A track record of long-term performance trusted by installers, naval architects, and everyday boaters alike.

From the physical cables and connectors that form the backbone of your network, to the smart gateways that translate and distribute data across your vessel, Actisense provides a comprehensive, cohesive ecosystem for anyone serious about marine electronics networking.

Product Details

The Actisense EMU-1-BAS is a specialized analog-to-NMEA 2000 gateway that converts data from analog engine gauges and senders into digital NMEA 2000 format, enabling modern multifunction displays to monitor engine parameters throughout your vessel's network. This marine engine monitoring solution digitizes analog engine sensors, allowing you to share vital engine information across the entire NMEA 2000 bus for comprehensive onboard monitoring.

Key Features:

 • Six gauge/parameter inputs for monitoring temperature, pressure, RPM, and fluid levels
 • Two tachometer inputs for engine speed and engine hours logging
 • Four dedicated alarm inputs for critical engine warnings
 • Two additional auxiliary inputs for expanded monitoring capability
 • Monitors vital parameters from up to two engines (that share a common ground)
 • Tank level monitoring for up to six tanks with configurable instance identification
 • Now includes support for tilt and trim tabs

Configuration and Compatibility:

 • PC-based configuration tool allows customization to match specific engine senders and gauges
 • Flexible solution compatible with many engine makes and models including Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Mercruiser, Perkins, and more
 • Requires Actisense NGX-1 or NGT-1 NMEA 2000 gateway for initial configuration and firmware updates
