Quicksilver 8M0246145 Shift Shaft Oil Seal Outboard OEM Replacement

The Quicksilver 8M0246145 is a genuine OEM shift shaft oil seal designed for Mercury and Mariner outboard motors. This seal is a critical component in the lower unit gearcase, responsible for preventing water and contaminants from entering the gearcase through the shift shaft opening while retaining gear oil inside the housing.

Key Features:

• Genuine Quicksilver OEM part — manufactured to Mercury Marine factory specifications
• Seals the shift shaft passage in the lower unit bell housing to prevent water intrusion
• Retains gearcase gear lube to ensure proper lubrication of internal components
• Constructed from marine-grade materials engineered to withstand both saltwater and freshwater environments
• Precision-fit design ensures correct installation and reliable long-term performance
• Direct OEM replacement — no modification required

A failed or worn shift shaft oil seal can allow water into the gearcase, resulting in milky gear oil, accelerated wear on internal bearings and gears, and potential lower unit failure. Replacing this seal during routine maintenance or lower unit service helps protect your investment and keeps your outboard shifting smoothly. Sold as a single seal.
