The Teleflex SSCX15413 is a 13-foot TFXtreme premium rack steering cable engineered for back-mount rack and pinion marine steering systems. Part of the SSC154xx Xtreme series, this cable delivers superior steering feel and responsiveness compared to standard-grade cables, making it a top-tier choice for replacement or new installations.
The Xtreme design achieves lower backlash and reduced lost motion by maintaining an exceptionally close tolerance fit between the inner core and the liner, while still preserving critical space for lubrication. The result is a more direct connection between helm input and engine response — more of your steering effort translates into actual boat turning.
Key Features:
- 13-foot cable length — last two digits of MPN indicate length in feet
- TFXtreme Xtreme-series technology — lower backlash than standard SSC134xx cables
- Close-tolerance core-to-liner fit — minimizes lost motion while retaining lubrication space
- Quick-connect feature — simplifies installation at the helm end
- Splined inner liner ridges — maintain close core contact for consistent feel
- Exceeds ABYC safety standards — meets ISO, IMCI, and NMMA certification requirements
- UPC: 131957136433
Compatible Helm Units:
- SH5210P — HPS and Standard Back-Mount Rack Helm

Replacement Sizing Tip: When replacing an existing rack steering cable, locate the part number stamped on the plastic jacket of the original cable — the last two digits indicate cable length in feet. If the part number cannot be found, measure the plastic cable cover end to end, add 30 inches, then round up to the nearest whole foot to determine the correct replacement length.
Note: Originally sold under the Teleflex Marine brand, the SSCX154 series is now produced by Dometic SeaStar Solutions following Teleflex Marine's acquisition. The brand transition does not affect fit, form, or function — this cable is fully compatible with all legacy Teleflex and SeaStar rack helm hardware.
