Megaware KeelGuard Boat Keel Protector Red

The Megaware KeelGuard boat keel protector (also called a keel guard or hull keel protector) is the original do-it-yourself keel protection system. It shields your boat's keel from abrasive sand, rocks, oyster beds and concrete ramps. Damage to the keel can break down the gelcoat finish and let water reach the fiberglass laminates. KeelGuard helps prevent that.

Key Features:

• Abrasion-resistant construction: a blend of polymers and urethanes that is tough, shock absorbing and pliable enough to conform to the keel.
• Self-sealing contoured edge: forms a clean, tight seal, so no messy sealants are needed.
• Patented hydrodynamic design: drag-reduction channels create air pockets and a slicker surface, so the protector doesn't slow the boat down.
• 3M adhesive: pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds the protector to the hull and seals it.
• UV-stabilized colors: designed to resist fading and dulling.
• Easy installation: four steps: etch, clean, prime and apply.
• Made in the USA
• Hull compatibility: intended for fiberglass boats and some aluminum boats.

KeelGuard helps maintain your boat's appearance and value, and it can reduce the cost of fiberglass repairs. It is a popular choice for boaters who beach their boats or launch from ramps.

Installation note: if your trailer carries the boat's full weight on keel rollers or a support beam, the rollers must be lowered or the side bunks raised to clear them. This keeps the adhesive bond from being compromised.
