The ARP 234-4317 Pro Series head stud kit delivers
professional-grade reliability for 2004 and newer GM LS engines.
Engineered for high-performance and competition applications, this
complete kit provides superior clamping force and precision
alignment compared to factory head bolts.
Premium 8740 Chrome Moly Construction:
Each stud is manufactured from premium grade 8740 chrome moly
steel and heat-treated to 200,000 psi tensile strength. The studs
are placed vertically in specialized racks during heat treatment to
ensure complete and uniform heat penetration throughout the
material. This vertical heat-treat process produces far superior
results compared to conventional basket heat-treating methods.
Precision Manufacturing Process:
- Cold-forged construction ensures molecular integrity
- Centerless ground after heat-treat for exceptional straightness
and concentricity
- Thread rolled after heat-treat for superior fatigue
strength
- Machined to exacting tolerances for perfect gasket and cylinder
head alignment
- 12-point nut design with reduced wrenching profile
Complete Kit Includes:
- High-strength 8740 chrome moly head studs (M11 x 2.0 and M8 x
1.25 threads)
- 12-point nuts with wide-area flanges
- Hardened parallel-ground washers for even load
distribution
- Black oxide finish for corrosion resistance
Performance Advantages:
Head studs provide more accurate and consistent torque loading
compared to bolts because they stretch only on the vertical axis
during installation. The stud design eliminates the twisting forces
that occur when torquing head bolts, resulting in more uniform
clamping pressure across the head gasket. The 12-point nut design
and wide flange eliminate the need for valve train removal during
cylinder head retorquing and accommodate larger diameter valve
springs.
Application:
Designed specifically for 2004 and newer GM Gen III/IV LS
engines with all same-length stud configurations, including 4.8L,
5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, 6.2L, and 7.0L engines (LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS9,
L92, L76, LY6, and related variants).
Every ARP stud is stamped with the ARP logo as your assurance of
quality and is backed by ARP's zero-defect, zero-failure quality
standard. This is the same head stud kit relied upon by
professional engine builders in all forms of racing.
