About Performance Tool
Founded in 1971 and headquartered in Kent, Washington, Performance Tool is a flagship brand of Wilmar, LLC — a privately held company with decades of experience supplying automotive enthusiasts, professional mechanics, and DIYers with dependable tools and shop accessories. With a catalog spanning more than 3,800 products, Performance Tool has built a reputation for delivering practical, well-engineered solutions backed by a satisfaction guarantee.
Performance Tool's strength lies in breadth and accessibility. Whether you're performing a routine oil change at home or running a full-service garage, the brand covers the essentials and then some. Their lineup includes hand tools, wrenches, ratchets, sockets, specialty automotive tools, air tools, power tool accessories, lifting equipment, and a comprehensive range of shop supplies — all designed to handle real-world demands without overcomplicated setups.
Fluid Management Done Right
One of Performance Tool's most recognized product areas is fluid capture and management. Their drain pans are available in a wide range of capacities — from compact quart-sized pans ideal for motorcycles and small engines to large-format polypropylene containers suited for trucks and SUVs. Built from chemical- and solvent-resistant materials, these pans are designed to handle hot engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and more without warping or corroding. For garages where fluid spills are a constant hazard, Performance Tool also offers protective utility mats that guard floors and work surfaces during maintenance tasks.
Hand Tools Built for the Job
Performance Tool's hand tool segment covers a broad spectrum of tasks. Their punch and chisel sets are go-to instruments for metalworking, bearing removal, pin-driving, and general fabrication work — combining hardened steel construction with ergonomic handles for controlled strikes. For technicians who need reliable vehicle access from below, Performance Tool's jacks provide the lifting capacity and stability that safe undercarriage work demands.
Shop Comfort and Organization
A well-equipped garage isn't just about the tools — it's about the environment. Performance Tool recognizes this with shop furniture designed to keep technicians comfortable and productive. Their barstools are built specifically for shop use, featuring swivel seats and sturdy frames that hold up in demanding work environments — a practical upgrade from standing for hours on a concrete floor.
A Brand Built on Consistency
What sets Performance Tool apart is the consistency of its approach: practical designs, durable materials, and a product range wide enough to outfit an entire shop. Sold through major automotive retailers, hardware stores, and online channels nationwide, Performance Tool continues to be a trusted choice for anyone who takes their tools seriously.
