VHT: Engineered for Extreme Temperature Performance

When automotive enthusiasts and professional mechanics need coatings that can withstand punishing heat, they turn to VHT. The brand name literally stands for "Very High Temperature," and that single-minded focus on heat resistance has made VHT a trusted name in automotive specialty coatings for decades. As a division of Dupli-Color®, a Sherwin-Williams brand, VHT brings the backing of industry-leading paint technology combined with specialized formulations designed specifically for the harsh environments found in automotive applications.

The original VHT product was developed for NASA for use on space vehicles reentering Earth's atmosphere, a testament to the extreme performance capabilities built into these coatings. That same aerospace-grade technology has been adapted for automotive use, making VHT products ideal for everything from exhaust systems and headers to engine components and chassis protection. VHT products are formulated to withstand vehicles' extreme heat conditions with heat-resistant coatings ranging from 250°F to 2,000°F intermittently, ensuring that whatever surface you're protecting stays looking great even under the most demanding conditions.

Specialty Coatings for Every Application

VHT's product lineup extends far beyond basic engine paint. The brand's comprehensive Color Coat selection offers enthusiasts and restorers an extensive palette of finishes, from classic automotive hues to eye-catching metallic and specialty colors that can transform any project. Whether you're restoring a vintage engine bay to factory specifications or creating a custom show-stopping build, VHT provides the color options and heat resistance needed to make your vision a reality.

The brand's commitment to specialized solutions means they've developed coatings for virtually every part of a vehicle. VHT Caliper Paint is formulated for brake detailing with extra heat and chemical resistance, while their Wheel paint products protect against the daily assault of brake dust, road salt, and debris. For those working on performance upgrades or restoration projects involving hydraulic systems, VHT offers products that complement Hydraulic Ram Kit installations with chemical-resistant finishes that won't degrade when exposed to automotive fluids.

Built for Restoration and Custom Projects

What sets VHT apart is the brand's understanding that automotive coatings need to do more than just look good—they need to perform under real-world stress. Their products won't peel, flake or chip under stress, making them ideal for engine components like Engine Piston Ring housings and Engine Timing Chain covers where thermal cycling and vibration would quickly destroy inferior finishes. The one-step epoxy formulations in many VHT products eliminate the need for separate primers, streamlining project workflows for both professional shops and DIY enthusiasts.

From FlameProof coatings that handle exhaust manifold temperatures to vinyl dyes that refresh interior surfaces, VHT has developed a reputation for delivering specialty coatings that solve real problems. The brand continues to expand its product line while maintaining the quality and performance standards that have made it a go-to choice for motorsport professionals, restoration specialists, and automotive hobbyists who demand coatings that can truly stand the heat.
