Trusted Marine Ignition Solutions Since 1982

CDI Electronics has earned its reputation as a leading provider of marine ignition components through decades of hands-on experience and engineering innovation. Founded in 1982 as Rapair Incorporated, the company initially focused on repair services for outboard ignitions, gaining invaluable insight into the most common failure points in marine electrical systems. This diagnostic expertise became the foundation for their product development philosophy when the company began to design, develop and manufacture their own line of replacement ignition components under the brand name of CDI Electronics in 1995.

Designed and manufactured in Huntsville, Alabama, CDI Electronics products represent a cost-effective alternative to OEM components without sacrificing quality or reliability. The brand's extensive catalog addresses the critical electrical needs of marine engines, from individual replacement parts to complete diagnostic solutions that help technicians troubleshoot complex ignition problems efficiently.

Comprehensive Ignition Repair Components

The heart of CDI Electronics' product line lies in their ignition repair parts, which encompass everything from switch boxes to trigger assemblies. These components are engineered to address the harsh marine environment where corrosion, vibration, and moisture can compromise electrical performance. Their voltage regulators play a crucial role in maintaining stable electrical output across varying RPM ranges, protecting sensitive ignition systems and charging batteries reliably.

Understanding that a strong spark is fundamental to engine performance, CDI manufactures precision direct ignition coils designed to deliver consistent high-voltage output. The brand also produces specialized alternator harnesses that connect charging systems while withstanding the temperature extremes and flexing stresses encountered in engine compartments. For marine mechanics working on sterndrive applications, CDI offers specialized outdrive tools that simplify installation and service procedures.

Advanced Diagnostic Technology

Beyond replacement parts, CDI Electronics has developed the Marine Engine Diagnostic System (M.E.D.S.), an easy-to-use advanced software package specifically developed for troubleshooting marine engines. This diagnostic platform works with most major outboard brands, giving technicians a unified tool for reading engine data, identifying active faults, and running systematic tests. The M.E.D.S. system represents CDI's commitment to not just selling parts, but empowering the marine service industry with professional-grade diagnostic capabilities.

Whether you're maintaining a tournament bass boat, servicing commercial fishing vessels, or keeping a family runabout running smoothly, CDI Electronics provides the ignition components and diagnostic tools that marine engines depend on. Their products reflect more than four decades of learning what works in real-world marine applications, making them a trusted choice for do-it-yourself boaters and professional marine technicians alike.

The CDI Electronics 531-0119I4 is a software upgrade/add-on for the M.E.D.S. (Marine Engine Diagnostic System) that adds compatibility for MEFI 1-4 gasoline inboard engines. This professional-grade diagnostic package enables marine technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose GM Marine Electronic Fuel Injection systems used in inboard and sterndrive applications from the early 1990s through mid-2000s.
Key Features:
Important Note: This is an upgrade/add-on that requires you to already own a M.E.D.S. individual platform or bundle platform. It cannot be used as a standalone diagnostic system.
The M.E.D.S. system connects to the engine's diagnostic link connector (DLC) to communicate with the ECM (Engine Control Module), allowing technicians to read diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), monitor sensor inputs, test fuel injectors, and perform advanced diagnostics that would otherwise require multiple tools and software packages. Ideal for marine service shops, dealerships, and professional technicians working on GM-based marine engines.
