Megaware KeelGuard 27171 SkegGuard Stainless Steel Outboard Skeg Protector

The Megaware SkegGuard 27171 is a heavy-duty stainless steel skeg protector and replacement skeg designed to shield your outboard motor's lower unit from costly damage. Whether you're looking to protect an intact skeg or repair one that's already been broken, this dual-purpose guard delivers a cost-effective alternative to expensive marina repairs or welding.

Superior Construction:

• Built from 18-gauge marine-grade 316 stainless steel for maximum corrosion resistance in saltwater and freshwater environments
• Mirror-polished finish for lasting shine and reduced surface oxidation
• Reinforced 3mm (1/8") wear tab across the bottom — the area most vulnerable to ramp dragging, rocks, and submerged debris
• Precision-formed to conform closely to your lower unit's profile, ensuring no added drag or performance loss
• Drain hole on the bottom prevents water from pooling inside, reducing the risk of corrosion and freeze damage in cold climates

Easy DIY Installation:

• Installs in 4 simple steps in under 10 minutes using common tools
• Slide onto the existing skeg with a rubber mallet, then secure using the pre-drilled holes with a standard 1/4-inch drill bit
• Can be installed with as little as 2–3 inches of original skeg remaining, making it ideal for repair applications
• Secured with self-locking hardware for a firm, rattle-free fit

Additional Details:

• Backed by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty
• A far more affordable and durable solution than welding or replacing a lower skeg entirely
