Quicksilver 31640T6 Magnesium Trim Tab Anode for Mercury Mariner Outboards MerCruiser Sterndrives

The Quicksilver 31640T6 is a magnesium trim tab anode engineered specifically for freshwater use on Mercury and Mariner outboards (35 hp and above) and all MerCruiser sterndrives except the Bravo series. Produced to meet Mercury Marine original equipment manufacturer specifications, this anode delivers reliable galvanic corrosion protection to keep your engine and drivetrain components in peak condition season after season.

Magnesium is the preferred anode material for freshwater environments due to its higher electrochemical activity, making it more effective than aluminum or zinc in low-conductivity water. As a sacrificial anode, the 31640T6 attracts corrosion away from critical metal components, acting as the first line of defense against galvanic degradation. As an added benefit, this trim tab anode also helps reduce steering torque for improved handling.

Key Features:

• Freshwater use only — magnesium formulation optimized for low-conductivity freshwater environments; do not use in saltwater
• Cast magnesium construction meets or exceeds Mil-Spec A-21412(SH) military specification standards
• Produced to Mercury Marine OEM specifications for a precise, factory-correct fit
• Functions as a trim tab anode to combat galvanic corrosion and help reduce steering torque
• Fits Mercury and Mariner outboards 35 hp and above, plus all MerCruiser sterndrives except Bravo series
• Easy to install using existing hardware and common hand tools
• Check for proper propeller clearance at time of installation

Inspect this anode periodically and replace when approximately 50% consumed for continuous corrosion protection. Quicksilver genuine OEM parts are backed by Mercury Marine's reputation for quality and tested to withstand the most demanding marine environments.
