Panther 35SS620 Safe-Skeg Stainless Steel Skeg Protector for Mercury/Mariner 135-200HP

The Panther Safe-Skeg (35SS620) is a 316 marine-grade stainless steel skeg protector designed to slip over your outboard's existing skeg — either to shield a new skeg from future damage or to restore an impact-damaged skeg to like-new performance. Engine-specific fitment ensures a precise, seamless fit for select Mercury and Mariner outboard engines.

Why Your Skeg Matters:

The skeg is the fin-shaped component at the lowest point of your outboard lower unit. It acts as a rudder, keeping the motor tracking straight and enabling accurate, responsive steering. Because it sits at the very bottom of the motor, it is highly vulnerable to strikes from rocks, debris, and shallow-water hazards. A damaged skeg negatively impacts engine performance and handling — especially critical on high-performance and bass boats where precise steering at speed is essential.

Key Features:

• 316 marine-grade stainless steel construction — brilliantly mirror-polished with a seamless design for strength and durability
• 1.5mm material thickness — 50% thicker than competing products; no skid plate required
• Drain hole prevents water buildup, protecting against corrosion and winter freeze-up
• Engine-specific design for a perfect fit and like-new performance
• Quick installation — mounts in minutes with included hardware
• Complete kit includes: Safe-Skeg, mounting hardware, instructions, allen wrench, and Loctite 262

The Panther 35SS620 Safe-Skeg is a smart, durable investment in protecting your outboard's lower unit and keeping your boat handling exactly as intended.
