Panther 35SS640 Safe-Skeg Stainless Steel Skeg Protector for Evinrude/Johnson 2-Stroke Outboards

The Panther Safe-Skeg 35SS640 is a precision-engineered stainless steel skeg protector designed to shield the lower unit of compatible Evinrude and Johnson 2-stroke outboard motors. Whether you need to protect a new skeg, restore a damaged one, or simply upgrade its appearance, the Safe-Skeg installs in minutes and delivers lasting protection against rocks, debris, and other underwater hazards.

Key Features:

• 316 marine-grade stainless steel construction — 1.5mm thick with a mirror-polished finish for durability and corrosion resistance
• Engine-specific fit — designed for a precise, like-new fitment on compatible Evinrude/Johnson outboards
• Drain hole — prevents water accumulation to protect against corrosion and winter freeze-up
• Quick installation — mounts in minutes with all necessary hardware included
• Complete kit — includes mounting hardware, instructions, Allen wrench, and Loctite 262

The skeg is located at the lowest point of the outboard's lower unit and acts as a rudder, keeping the motor tracking straight and enabling accurate steering. Because of its exposed position, it is highly susceptible to impact damage from rocks and submerged obstacles. A chipped or damaged skeg can noticeably degrade steering performance. The Panther Safe-Skeg covers and reinforces the existing skeg, restoring performance and preventing further damage. OEM cross-reference: 781-35SS640.
