The Sierra 18-2156 is a replacement tilt worm gear shaft designed specifically for OMC Stringer sterndrive systems. This precision-engineered component is designed for use on 1964-1986 OMC Stringer drives (except Cobra models), serving as a critical element in the intermediate housing tilt mechanism.

Key Features:

  • Carries the worm gear that operates the tilt system
  • Interchangeable with GLM 22040, Evinrude/Johnson 980183, and OMC 980183
  • Meets or exceeds original equipment specifications
  • Includes two roll pins for installation (one or two used depending on drive year)

The fork end that fits into the hammer blow coupling is prone to failure over time, making this replacement shaft an essential maintenance part for OMC Stringer owners. Works with a wide range of OMC horsepower configurations including 100, 120, 140, 165, 170, 175, 190, 225, 235, and 245 HP engines. Installation requires proper seals and gaskets (sold separately) for optimal performance and longevity.
