Product Details

The Sierra 18-2202 Sliding Clutch is a precision-engineered aftermarket replacement clutch dog designed for MerCruiser stern drive lower units. It directly replaces OEM MerCruiser part numbers 52-853594T, 52-66063, and 52-824112, making it a direct, drop-in solution for lower unit gear system restoration.

This sliding clutch is a critical component in the lower unit gearcase, responsible for engaging forward and reverse gears by locking onto the propeller shaft. Worn or damaged sliding clutches can cause gear slippage, difficulty shifting, or complete loss of drive engagement — making timely replacement essential for safe and reliable operation.

Key Features:

  • Direct replacement for MerCruiser OEM part numbers 52-853594T, 52-66063, and 52-824112
  • Compatible with MerCruiser MC-1, R, MR, Alpha One, and Alpha One Gen II stern drives (1983 and newer)
  • Also compatible with Mercury 3.0L engine applications
  • Cross-references with GLM part number 11060
  • Engineered to meet or exceed original equipment specifications
  • Built for the demanding marine environment

The Sierra 18-2202 is also included as a component in the Sierra 18-2405 Gear Repair Kit for MR/Alpha One stern drives. Sierra International is a leading manufacturer of aftermarket marine engine parts, trusted by technicians and boaters worldwide for quality and reliability.

Cheapest carb I found for my use, thanks.

Once I got the numbers off the old battery it was easier than when I put in the make and model because I have a BMW motorcycle instead of the car which is what came up each time.
