Product Details

The Sierra 18-2228 is a precision .007" bearing shim engineered as a direct replacement for Johnson and Evinrude outboard motors. This shim provides the critical clearance adjustment needed during lower unit assembly and rebuilds to establish or alter the preload on bearing races, ensuring bearings roll and move as intended.

Manufactured by Sierra (a Sea Star Solutions brand), this shim meets or exceeds the original equipment manufacturer's specifications and is backed by Sierra's limited lifetime warranty. It directly replaces Johnson/Evinrude OEM part number 320170.

Key Specifications:

  • Shim thickness: 0.007"
  • Inner diameter (I.D.): 1.530"
  • Replaces OEM part number: 320170 (Johnson/Evinrude)
  • Meets or exceeds OEM specifications
  • Backed by Sierra's limited lifetime warranty

About Bearing Shims:

  • Used to establish or adjust bearing preload in outboard lower units
  • Fills precise gaps between components to ensure proper fit and alignment
  • Can be used as spacers between worn components during reassembly
  • Critical for correct lower unit gear mesh and bearing longevity

Sierra's 18-2228 shim is a trusted marine-grade replacement part, precision manufactured for reliable performance in demanding outboard applications.
