The Sierra 18-2232 is a precision .003-inch pinion shim designed as a direct replacement for OMC, Johnson, and Evinrude outboard engines and OMC sterndrives. This shim is a critical lower unit component used during gearcase assembly to set correct pinion gear depth and bearing preload, ensuring proper gear mesh and long-term drivetrain reliability.

Manufactured by Sierra International to meet OEM specifications, this shim directly replaces OMC OEM part number 323889. It features an inside diameter of 1.22 inches and is sold as an individual piece, allowing technicians to select the exact thickness needed during lower unit rebuilds.
