Product Details

The Sierra 18-2308 is a replacement sliding clutch dog designed for Johnson and Evinrude outboard motors. This precision-engineered component restores proper gear engagement in the lower unit gearcase, ensuring reliable forward and reverse operation on the water.

A clutch dog is a critical lower unit component that uses mechanical interference — rather than friction — to engage and transfer rotational motion between gears. When the two interlocking sections are brought together, they rotate in unison without slipping, providing a positive, reliable connection with minimal heat generation and long service life.

Key Features:

 • Direct replacement for OEM part number 332491
 • Sliding clutch design for positive gear engagement
 • Meets or exceeds original equipment quality standards
 • No friction slip after engagement for reduced wear and heat
 • Sold as a single unit

Cross-Reference Part Numbers:

 • OEM (OMC / Johnson / Evinrude): 332491
 • Sierra: 18-2308 / SIE18-2308
 • Mallory Marine: 9-73514 / MAL9-73514
 • GLM: 22663

Sierra is a trusted brand in the marine aftermarket, offering high-quality engine parts and accessories that match or exceed OEM specifications for dependable performance.

Very easy

Google experience so far

Easy

They had the best price I could find, anywhere, for Royal Purple HPS oil (and I spent hours searching). I ordered a case on Sunday night and it arrived on Wednesday (standard shipping) from half-way across the country. For standard shipping, that's pretty fast. They must have send it out early Monday morning, at the latest.

I'm very satisfied with my experience, and I'll definitely be ordering from them again, when I need another case of oil.

Easy search and nav for what I needed.
