The Sierra 18-6046 is a zinc sacrificial rudder anode engineered to protect your vessel's submerged metal components from the damaging effects of galvanic corrosion. Designed for inboard and sterndrive applications, this anode mounts directly to the rudder, where it acts as the preferred metal in the galvanic series, corroding in place to safeguard more critical and expensive underwater components.
Galvanic corrosion occurs when dissimilar metals are electrically connected and submerged in a conductive solution such as saltwater. By introducing a highly active zinc anode into the system, electrochemical activity is directed away from shafts, propellers, and rudder hardware, concentrating wear on the replaceable anode instead. Zinc anodes are specifically formulated for saltwater environments.

They carried the parts i was looking for at an amazingly discounted price. I'm not dissapointed even though the initial ship took 5 days to begin. Per their note they do inform the customer of 1 day to process the order and another 3 "business days" to SHIP. Seems like in this age of instantaneous communications the lag should be dramatically less. Generally, a more robust processing center can ship same day if in the same time zone and order arrives before 2pm - a goal to shoot for! ;)
