How It Works:

The PSS creates a 100% watertight seal between a rotating 316 stainless steel rotor (mounted to the propeller shaft) and a stationary high-density carbon-graphite stator. The stator attaches to the vessel's stern tube via a flexible nitrile rubber bellow secured with hose clamps. When installed, the rotor compresses the spring-like bellow, maintaining constant contact between the mating faces to compensate for propeller thrust and shaft movement. The carbon stator is over-bored, allowing it to "float" around the shaft and compensate for misalignment and engine vibration.
