About Greenfield Products

Greenfield Products has been a cornerstone of American marine manufacturing since its founding in 1959 by J. Paul Gessner in Greenfield, Ohio. What began as a small operation producing outdoor cookware and aluminum-painted anchors evolved rapidly into one of the most respected names in recreational boating. The pivotal moment came in 1962, when Greenfield introduced the first PVC-coated anchor — a genuine industry first that transformed how boaters thought about holding power, vessel protection, and long-term durability. That spirit of innovation has carried the company forward for more than six decades.

Today, Greenfield Products operates as a fourth-generation, family-owned business, and that heritage shows in both product quality and company culture. Their anchor catalog spans a wide range of styles and applications, from the classic Navy anchor — a proven design relied upon for over a century — to mushroom anchors ideal for kayaks, canoes, and personal watercraft, to the aggressive Sandshark design engineered to dig deep and hold vessels up to 40 feet in length. The AYS (American Yachting Series) fluke anchor rounds out the lineup with a time-tested all-purpose design dating back to Richard Danforth's original 1939 concept. Whether you're securing a jon boat in a calm river or keeping a larger vessel in place offshore, Greenfield's marine anchors offer a solution matched to your specific needs.

Greenfield's commitment to innovation extends beyond anchors. The company holds the distinction of being the originators of stretch cordage for boating. Their Dock Buddy bungee dock line, introduced in the 1990s, quickly became a worldwide standard in the docking products category. They pushed further in 2006 with the introduction of Stretch N Slide, the world's first bungee loop-line for docking or rafting, which eliminates the need to choose a specific size by adapting to fit perfectly every time. The Anchor Buddy — a poly-covered bungee cord that absorbs shock from the anchor line — makes offshore anchoring dramatically easier and more comfortable for any boater.

For anglers, Greenfield also produces eco-conscious downrigger weights made from recycled lead, cast directly during the recycling process to minimize environmental impact, with no secondary smelting or emissions involved in production. PVC-coated anchor chains, available in various styles and colors, complete a comprehensive anchoring system by providing the critical weight between anchor and rode needed to maintain the proper angle for a solid set. Explore their full selection of anchor chains and accessories to build out a complete, dependable anchoring setup.

From the freshwater lakes of Ohio to ocean coastlines across the country, Greenfield Products continues to hold America's boats with the same craftsmanship and ingenuity that defined the brand from day one.

Product Details

The Greenfield Products 669 11RD IND is an 8 lb red vinyl-coated slip ring fluke anchor designed for boats up to 24 feet. This traditional fluke anchor features an innovative sliding ring on the shaft that makes retrieval significantly easier than conventional anchors.

Key Features:

 • Red vinyl coating protects boat finishes from scratches and abrasions
 • Solid iron construction with mar-resistant plastisol coating
 • Slip ring design allows easy retrieval by backing boat directly over anchor
 • Ring slides to crown and releases anchor from opposite direction when snagged
 • Self-releasing, lightweight, and easy to store
 • Suitable for boats up to 24 feet in length

Installation Notes:

Anchor chain should always be used with steel fluke anchors to provide the extra weight necessary to maintain proper pull angle for setting. A good starting point is a chain length equal to the boat's length. Fluke anchors require a scope of at least 5:1 (rode length to water depth) for proper setting, with 7:1 scope recommended for optimal holding power.

Unlike traditional anchors that must be weighed by pulling up on the shank, the slip ring design allows you to back your boat directly over the anchor position, causing the ring to slide to the crown and release the anchor from the opposite direction—ideal for freeing snagged anchors.
