Taskmaster Wheels: Engineered for the Demands of the Trailer Industry

When it comes to trailer wheels, not all products are created equal — and Taskmaster Components has built its reputation on refusing to cut corners. A family-owned and operated company founded in 1985 and headquartered in Mount Pleasant, Texas, Taskmaster specializes in the design and assembly of high-quality trailer wheels and tires. Their wheel lineup reflects a philosophy that prioritizes engineering integrity over commodity pricing.

A No-Compromise Approach to Wheel Manufacturing

Trailer wheels are an important and often overlooked trailer component — and in the never-ending pursuit of cost cutting, sub-par wheel manufacturers have skipped critical steps that have left the industry with problems including wheel-offs, tire pressure leaks, and recalls. Taskmaster takes a different path. They employ a staff of engineers with deep experience in the chassis and tire/wheel industry, ensuring that manufacturers follow strict requirements covering material quality, design standards, and the build process — three pillars that produce wheels they are proud to offer customers.

One telling example of this attention to detail is valve hole manufacturing. Valve hole issues are the root cause of slow tire pressure leaks, and producing them correctly requires three steps: stamping a flat area on the disk, punching the hole, and chamfering both sides to remove sharp edges. Similarly, their welding process uses four evenly spaced welds to attach the disc to the ring — avoiding full 360° coverage, which introduces excessive heat that causes warping, vibration, and premature wear on hubs, axles, and tires.

The Vesper Steel Wheel Series

Perhaps Taskmaster's most notable wheel achievement is the Vesper series, developed in collaboration with Maxion Wheels. Taskmaster Components partnered with Maxion Wheels — the world's largest wheel manufacturer — to develop a high-quality steel wheel lineup; the resulting Vesper series became available and ready to ship for the North American market.

• The Vesper lineup is constructed entirely of a high-grade steel usually reserved for just the discs in other wheels, equating to a longer wheel life.
• Advanced engineering optimization removed an estimated 5–10% of weight, resulting in improved fuel economy.
• The entire wheel lineup received automotive-grade rim edge conditioning, which lessens tire damage during mounting and eliminates stress cracks around the rim.
• The Vesper series is finished in a high-quality coating that exceeded 1,000 hours in the salt spray chamber.

The Vesper line is available in a range of sizes and bolt patterns — including popular configurations like 15x6 and 16x6 — finished in both silver and black mod styles to suit a wide variety of trailer applications.
