RockGard Boat Covers
Protecting Your Hull Where It Matters Most
Every boater knows the risks on the water — but the road to the lake presents its own hazards. Rocks, gravel, road tar, and highway debris can chip, scratch, and pit a boat's hull long before it ever touches the water. That's the problem RockGard was built to solve. Rather than a traditional full boat cover, RockGard specializes in trailer-mounted boat covers and hull protection systems engineered specifically to shield the bow and forward hull while trailering.
A Patented Design Born From Real-World Testing
The RockGard hull protection design holds both Canadian patent #2,281,142 and U.S. patent #6,616,188 — the result of years of materials evaluation and prototype testing. The design was subjected to extensive engineering testing to ensure it exceeded safety specifications under normal use conditions. Unlike vinyl bras or film wraps that press directly against the gelcoat, RockGard mounts exclusively to the trailer frame, maintaining a critical air gap from the boat's surface — so nothing touches the gelcoat but the water.
Traditional rock guards can act as wind sails, dragging down fuel economy and creating turbulence. RockGard's patented aerodynamic design cuts through the wind — the mesh construction disrupts air pressure waves, forcing debris down and away from the hull rather than allowing it to loft over the barrier, reducing drag on the tow vehicle while maximizing protection.
A Style and Size for Every Boat
RockGard is built to defend against rocks, gravel, and debris while towing bow riders, pontoons, fishing boats, jet boats, and personal watercraft. The lineup covers a wide range of hull styles and sizes:
- V Front — The first rock guard RockGard ever produced, and still one of their best sellers. Available in a wide variety of sizes to fit fishing or surf boats ranging from 12 to 21+ feet.
- Blunt Front — Specially designed to eliminate the front gap between the two panels, with panels that fasten together with twist locks to eliminate hull exposure for trailers where the "Y" comes farther forward.
- Extra Long — Adds 32 inches of protection to the sides of the hull with the addition of two side posts, allowing for holistic protection when towing.
- Pontoon — Designed without sacrificing quality or stylish design, protecting the wide bow of a pontoon boat for years to come.
- Pickle Fork — Specifically designed and manufactured for pickle fork, or double-bowed, boats — ideal for wakeboard and ski boats.
- PWC — The smallest product in the lineup, providing protection for jet skis, Sea-Doos, PWCs, and other small watercraft.
Easy to Install, Easy to Remove
The system can be effortlessly mounted onto any boat trailer, with a simple and intuitive installation process that requires no specialized tools. Removal at the boat ramp requires only a couple of quick-release pins and unstrapping the edges — it literally takes seconds. A standard hardware kit fits 3"–5" frames and is included with all RockGard units, while an upgraded hardware kit is available separately for 6"–8" frames.
Built in North America, Backed by Warranty
RockGard is manufactured in Canada and is considered a top-quality product for boaters who put serious miles on their trailers each year. Each RockGard product is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the original date of purchase. For boaters serious about protecting their investment on every road between home and the water, RockGard's boat covers and hull protection systems represent a purpose-built solution that no standard tarp or full boat cover can replicate.
