What Are Gel-Coat & Fiberglass Compounds?

Gel-coat is the outermost surface of a fiberglass boat or RV — a resin-based polymer layer that provides color, gloss, and protection all in one. Applied first during the fiberglass molding process, gel-coat acts as far more than a cosmetic finish: it also functions as a waterproof barrier shielding the underlying fiberglass from UV damage and moisture-driven deterioration.
