Wichard 2778W HR Quick Release Snap Shackle with Large Bail 160mm

The Wichard 2778W is an HR Quick Release Snap Shackle with Large Bail, measuring 160mm (6-19/64") in overall length. Forged from High Resistance 17-4 PH stainless steel, this shackle is engineered to deliver outstanding working and breaking loads while maintaining reliable, fast release performance under sail.

Opening is accomplished simply by pulling the lanyard, making it ideal for high-load applications where a quick, single-handed release is critical. The large bail design accommodates multiple lines simultaneously, making it especially well-suited for spinnaker operations and sheet attachment. A swivel allows free rotation of the shackle body, reducing line twist and load-induced torque.

Key Features:

• Forged HR 17-4 PH (high resistance) stainless steel construction
• Quick release by lanyard pull — operable under load and from a distance
• Large bail accommodates multiple lines (e.g., spinnaker sheets)
• Free-rotating swivel prevents line twist
• Outstanding working and breaking load ratings
• 160mm (6-19/64") overall length
• Designed and manufactured in France

Wichard snap shackles are trusted worldwide by racing and cruising sailors for their precision hot-drop forging process, which enhances the internal grain structure of the metal for increased resistance to deformation and sudden failure under high dynamic loads. The 2778W is the largest in the large bail quick-release series, making it the go-to choice for high-load spinnaker and control line applications.
