The ACR Electronics 2940 Pathfinder AIS SART is a fully approved AIS Search and Rescue Transponder (SART) that complies with IMO SOLAS regulations, satisfying the mandatory SART carriage requirement for vessels governed by GMDSS. Built on the proven Pathfinder platform, this AIS-based distress alerting system offers significant advantages over traditional radar-based SARTs, including improved performance in adverse weather such as heavy rain or fog.

When activated, the Pathfinder AIS transmits GNSS/GPS position coordinates directly to all AIS-equipped vessels within VHF range. Using AIS Class-A position reports, it broadcasts a series of eight identical position report messages per minute across both AIS channels (161.975 MHz and 162.025 MHz), maximizing the probability that at least one transmission is received at the crest of a wave. The device also incorporates Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to simplify product registration and deliver test data.
