The CMP CME1H is a sacrificial zinc pencil anode designed to protect marine engine cooling systems from galvanic corrosion in saltwater environments. The CME series consists of a brass plug with a zinc anode threaded into it, making installation and replacement straightforward directly from the engine block.

Zinc is the preferred alloy for engine cooling system pencil anodes, as recommended by leading engine manufacturers including Cummins, Yanmar, and Caterpillar. Unlike aluminum, zinc pencil anodes will not fracture at the neck and block coolant channels — a critical safety advantage in closed cooling systems.
