Neoprene impellers are the preferred choice for marine raw water pumps due to their outstanding elasticity and resilience — the vanes snap back reliably after compression, maintaining pump efficiency over time. Regular impeller replacement (at least annually, or more frequently under heavy duty cycles) is essential to protecting your engine's cooling system from overheating damage.
