PSS Shaft Seal Dripless Mechanical Face for Packing Boxes, Shaft Seals & Accessories

The PSS Shaft Seal (Packless Sealing System) is a dripless mechanical face shaft seal for boat propeller shafts. It replaces a traditional flax-packed stuffing box or packing gland. It is also sold as a dripless prop shaft seal or packless shaft seal. It keeps water from entering the hull where the propeller shaft passes through the stern tube.

Key Features:

• Mechanical face seal design: The seal forms between the flat faces of a rotating stainless steel rotor and a stationary carbon flange.
• Self-aligning carbon flange: The flange is over-bored so it floats around the shaft. This helps compensate for misalignment and vibration.
• Nitrile rubber bellows: The bellows is chemical and fuel resistant. When compressed, it preloads the seal faces. This keeps them in constant contact and allows for fore-and-aft shaft movement from propeller thrust.
• Nitrile o-ring rotor seal: The stainless steel rotor is secured to the shaft with set screws. O-rings seal it to the shaft.
• Low maintenance: There is no packing to adjust or replace. It helps keep the bilge dry and reduces the constant dripping of conventional packing boxes.
• Hose clamp mounting: The bellows attaches to the stern tube and carbon flange with hose clamps.
