Groco Bronze Strainer with Plastic Basket

The Groco Bronze Strainer with Plastic Basket is an ARG Series raw water strainer, also called a sea strainer. It filters the cooling water intake for marine engines, air conditioning units and gensets. It is designed to be installed on the suction side of engines and pumps, and it keeps debris out of the system.

Key Features:

• Bronze construction: C84400 bronze head casting, UL Listed 255-D
• Non-metallic filter basket: Plastic basket suited to continuous-duty or high-use installations such as air conditioning, generators and refrigeration, where constant seawater flow shortens the life of a metal basket. It is interchangeable with the metallic baskets in the ARG line.
• Clear viewing: One-piece molded sight glass with no tie rods or gaskets, and a non-metallic cap that magnifies the view inside for quick inspection
• Tool-free service: The mounting system lets you remove the strainer without tools. The drain plug and basket design are improved for easier cleaning.
• Leak-resistant sealing: O-rings seal all joining surfaces
• Bonding connection: Provided on both sides
• Threaded ports: NPT threaded ports

Check and clean the basket regularly, and clean the sight glass with mild soapy water. Avoid abrasive or chemical cleaners on the sight glass. The strainer can be mounted vertically above the waterline or below it, depending on the installation. Mounting below the waterline can make pump priming easier and reduce air leaks.
