B & S Anodes Shaft Zinc Anode

The B & S Anodes Shaft Zinc Anode is a sacrificial zinc collar anode. It protects a boat's propeller shaft from galvanic corrosion. Zinc is less noble than the bronze, stainless steel and other metals around it. When these metals sit together in salt water, the zinc corrodes first, so the shaft and nearby underwater hardware last longer. You may also see this part called a shaft zinc, prop shaft anode or sacrificial shaft collar.

Key Features:

• Mil-spec zinc alloy: Cast from zinc alloy that meets Military Specification MIL-A-18001K.
• Hand-poured in the U.S.A.: B&S hand-pours its anodes. The company says this gives a higher degree of porosity than die-cast zinc, which exposes more surface area to the water.
• Collar design: Mounts directly on the propeller shaft.
• Marine use: Zinc is the standard choice for saltwater, where it outperforms aluminum.

B&S Marine Anodes has been pouring zinc anodes for decades. The company began with the founders of Bossler & Sweezey in the 1960s. Replace the anode on a regular schedule so it can keep protecting your shaft and drivetrain components.
