The Technology Behind the Performance

At the heart of every ODYSSEY battery is proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology — what the brand calls AGM2. By using plates made of 99% pure lead rather than lead alloy, ODYSSEY is able to make those plates significantly thinner, packing more of them into the same battery footprint. More plates mean more surface area, and more surface area translates directly into greater power output. The result is a battery capable of delivering engine cranking pulses up to 3,125 amps for five seconds — double that of equally sized conventional lead-acid batteries.

But raw cranking power is only part of the story. ODYSSEY batteries are also engineered for deep cycle endurance, handling up to 400 charge-discharge cycles to 80% depth of discharge. The sealed AGM design makes them completely maintenance-free, and their rated operating temperature range of -40°F to 140°F means they perform reliably in the harshest of environments — from arctic cold starts to sweltering engine bays.
