Two Approaches to Slip-Resistant Surfaces

Interlux offers boaters two distinct paths to a safer, grippy deck finish, giving DIYers and professional yards the flexibility to match the right product to the job.

• Interdeck No-Skid Deck Paint — a slip-resistant polyurethane deck paint that contains a fine mineral additive for a hard-wearing, non-slip surface. It is suitable for all substrates, features a low-sheen finish that prevents sunlight glare, and can be applied straight from the can with a brush or roller. This all-in-one formula makes deck refinishing straightforward, delivering a uniform non-skid texture without any mixing or guesswork.
• Intergrip No-Skid Compound — a special man-made plastic sphere additive that can be used with topside finishes before application, or sprinkled onto wet paint, to create a more slip-resistant finish. Any one of the Perfection or Brightside Polyurethane finishes can be transformed into a non-skid deck finish by the addition of Intergrip Polymeric non-skid compound.

Why Polymeric Spheres Outperform Traditional Grit

Not all non-skid additives are created equal. Many older products used natural silica sand or coarse mineral grit, which can trap dirt and degrade over time. Interlux took a different approach with Intergrip. This paint additive is made of very fine polymeric spheres that don't collect dirt as easily as natural grit. The regular shape of these man-made plastic spheres diminishes the tendency to collect dirt while delivering excellent non-skid properties. The result is a deck surface that stays cleaner and continues to perform season after season.

Versatile Compatibility Across Interlux Finishes

One of the key advantages of the Intergrip compound is its broad compatibility. Interlux Intergrip No-Skid Compound can be used with Interlux Brightside Polyurethane, Interlux Perfection Plus, or Interlux Premium Yacht Enamel to provide a non-skid surface on decks and cabin tops. For precise coverage, the recommended ratio is 1/2 pint of additive to 1 quart of paint, and 1 quart to 1 gallon. While applying, stirring every few minutes keeps the non-skid particles in suspension for an even, consistent finish across the entire surface.
