Keel Guard 27011 SkegGuard Stainless Steel Skeg Protector for MerCruiser Pre Alpha 1

The Megaware KeelGuard SkegGuard 27011 is a heavy-duty marine skeg protector and replacement skeg engineered for Mercury MerCruiser Pre Alpha 1 stern drives (1973–1984). Whether you're looking to shield a healthy skeg from everyday hazards or restore function to an already damaged one, the SkegGuard delivers a durable, cost-effective solution compared to expensive welding or lower unit replacement.

Key Features:

• 18-gauge marine grade 316 stainless steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance in saltwater and freshwater environments
• Mirror-polished finish for a clean, lasting appearance that resists tarnish and UV degradation
• Reinforced wear tab across the bottom — the most vulnerable area of the skeg — provides added protection against ramp dragging, submerged rocks, and underwater debris
• Bottom drain hole prevents water from collecting inside the guard, eliminating the risk of corrosion and freeze damage
• Conforms precisely to your lower unit profile, ensuring no measurable drag or reduction in performance
• Installs with as little as 2–3 inches of original skeg remaining — no need for a fully intact skeg
• Mounts using self-locking hardware; installs in under 10 minutes with basic tools and a rubber mallet
• Backed by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty

The SkegGuard 27011 slides over your existing skeg and locks into place through pre-drilled mounting holes using a standard 1/4-inch drill bit. It's a straightforward DIY repair or protection upgrade that can save hundreds of dollars in professional skeg repair costs. UPC: 672057270110. Cross-reference part numbers: KLG 27011, 26-3396.
