Megaware KeelGuard 27071 SkegGuard Stainless Steel Skeg Protector & Replacement

The Megaware SkegGuard 27071 is a precision-engineered stainless steel skeg protector that serves double duty: it shields an intact skeg from everyday damage and can also function as a replacement for an already broken skeg. Constructed from 18-gauge marine-grade 316 stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish, this guard slips over your motor's lower unit and conforms closely to the skeg profile, ensuring no measurable drag or loss of performance on the water.

A 3mm reinforced wear tab along the bottom edge provides concentrated protection exactly where the skeg is most vulnerable — against ramp dragging, submerged rocks, hidden debris, and riverbed hazards. A built-in drain hole at the bottom prevents water from pooling inside, eliminating the risk of internal corrosion and freeze damage in cold climates.

Key Features:

• 18-gauge marine-grade 316 stainless steel construction
• Mirror-polished finish for lasting shine and corrosion resistance
• 3mm reinforced lower wear tab for maximum impact protection
• Drain hole prevents internal water accumulation, corrosion, and freezing
• Conforms to lower unit — no discernible drag or performance compromise
• Installs with as little as 2"–3" of original skeg remaining
• Self-locking hardware included; installs with common tools in under 10 minutes
• Backed by a 3-year warranty

The SkegGuard 27071 is a cost-effective alternative to expensive skeg welding or full lower-unit replacement. Secured with self-locking hardware, the DIY installation requires no special skills and can be completed in less than 10 minutes using standard tools.
