Megaware KeelGuard 27151 SkegGuard Stainless Steel Skeg Protector

The Megaware KeelGuard SkegGuard 27151 is a precision-engineered stainless steel skeg protector designed to shield your outboard motor's skeg from the everyday hazards of boating. Whether you're navigating shallow flats, rocky rivers, or busy boat ramps, the SkegGuard adds a durable layer of defense — and can even be used to repair or replace an already damaged skeg.

Key Features:

• 18-gauge marine grade 316 stainless steel construction for maximum corrosion resistance in saltwater and freshwater environments
• Mirror-polished finish for lasting shine and a clean, factory-matched appearance
• Reinforced 3mm wear tab across the bottom of the skeg — the most vulnerable area — for added protection against ramp dragging, submerged rocks, and hidden debris
• Drain hole on the bottom prevents water from collecting and becoming stagnant, guarding against corrosion and freeze damage
• Conforms to your lower unit for a precise fit with no discernible drag or compromise in performance
• Can be installed with as little as 2–3 inches of original skeg remaining, making it ideal for both preventive protection and broken skeg repair
• Installs in under 10 minutes using common hand tools in just 4 simple steps — no special equipment required
• 3-Year Warranty backed by Megaware KeelGuard, Inc.

The SkegGuard 27151 slides onto the existing skeg using a rubber mallet, then secures with self-locking hardware through pre-drilled holes using a standard 1/4-inch drill bit. It's a smart, cost-effective alternative to expensive lower unit repairs or skeg welding.
