Rule Industries: The Gold Standard in Marine Water Management

Rule Industries has been synonymous with marine pump reliability since 1965. Founded when inventor Clinton Rule set out to solve the all-too-common problem of a leaky boat, the brand grew from a single innovative product into the world's most recognized name in submersible bilge pumps. Today, Rule operates under the Xylem family of water technology brands, but its identity — and its commitment to keeping vessels dry and boaters safe — remains as focused as ever.

For over five decades, Rule has set the industry benchmark in marine water management. Whether you're a weekend recreational boater, a tournament angler, or a commercial vessel operator, Rule's engineering philosophy is straightforward: build equipment that performs when it matters most. That reputation has earned Rule a place on the spec sheets of boat builders around the globe, with professionals and DIYers alike reaching for the Rule name when reliability is non-negotiable.

Electric Bilge Pumps: Rule's Flagship Product

The heart of the Rule lineup is its range of electric bilge pumps. Available in both manual and automatic configurations, Rule bilge pumps are engineered to remove water from the lowest point of a boat's bilge efficiently and reliably. Automatic models feature water-sensing switches that activate the pump as needed, offering hands-free protection without draining the battery. Heavy-duty models incorporate stainless steel shafts, marine-grade blocked wiring, and ignition protection, while the Gold Series pumps are backed by a five-year guarantee — a testament to Rule's confidence in its own craftsmanship.

Livewell & Aerator Pumps for Serious Anglers

Rule's expertise in water movement extends naturally into the fishing world. The brand's livewell and aerator pumps are engineered to circulate and oxygenate water in livewells and baitwells, keeping catch and live bait healthy throughout a long day on the water. Rule's Oxygenator Systems infuse air at the pump impeller to produce micro-fine bubbles that remain suspended longer, maximizing oxygen transfer to your bait or catch. The Tournament Series models feature a cartridge-style motor design that can be removed and replaced quickly — even mid-trip — keeping downtime to a minimum.

Blowers, Plumbing & Accessories

Rule rounds out its marine offering with a suite of supporting products that complement its pump lineup. The brand's bilge blowers provide ventilation for engine compartments, bilges, galleys, and heads, featuring corrosion-resistant motor housings, front and rear shaft seals, and USCG 183.410 ignition-protection compliance. For system builders and installers, Rule also offers plumbing parts and accessories along with nylon pipe and hose fittings — the connective tissue that ties a complete marine plumbing system together. With a catalog spanning over 135 products, Rule gives boaters everything they need to build, maintain, and upgrade their vessel's water management systems from a single trusted source.

Why Boaters Trust Rule

Over 60 years of continuous marine pump manufacturing since 1965

Submersible bilge pump designs trusted by boat builders from the factory

Automatic and manual models to suit every vessel type and size

Products engineered to meet rigorous commercial and recreational standards

Part of the Xylem global water technology portfolio

Wide availability through marine dealers across the US, Canada, Australia, UK, and beyond

Product Details

The Rule Industries LP900D LoPro™ is a non-automatic, submersible electric bilge pump engineered to deliver 900 gallons per hour of pumping capacity in an ultra-compact, low-profile design. At just 2-1/4" in height, it is purpose-built for tight bilge spaces where conventional pumps simply won't fit — including under engines, in shallow bilge sections, and deep keel sumps.

The LP900D operates on 12V DC and is activated by a separately installed float switch or panel-mounted switch, giving the operator full control over pump operation. The pump draws approximately 4 amps at 13.6V and features marine-grade sealed wiring for reliable performance in wet environments.

Key Features:

 • 900 GPH free-flow capacity at 13.6V for powerful bilge evacuation
 • Ultra-low 2-1/4" profile — fits under engines and in shallow bilge sections
 • Threaded discharge nozzle with multiple included port options: 3/4", 1", and 1-1/8" straight hose barbs, plus a 3/4" 90° elbow
 • 180° swiveling discharge body for flexible hose routing during installation
 • 360° hose swivel for optimized routing in confined spaces
 • Included tricuspid check valve (for straight fittings) minimizes water backflow
 • Horizontal or vertical mounting capability
 • Completely submersible construction
 • Rust and corrosion resistant — suitable for fresh and saltwater use
 • Silent, vibration-free operation with moisture-tight seals
 • Anti-airlock protection and dry-run capability without motor burnout
 • Easy-clean snap-lock strainer base
 • Stainless steel shaft for long service life
 • Ignition protected; CE and ISO 8849 certified
 • 3-year limited warranty

The LP900D is the non-automatic (standard) version of the Rule LoPro series and requires a minimum 16-gauge wiring. The ABS thermoplastic wet-end housing and stainless steel shaft provide corrosion resistance in demanding marine environments. For installations where space is at an absolute premium, the LoPro™ LP900D delivers professional-grade bilge pumping performance without compromise.
